Due to my health issues we have reduced our poultry to just a minimal number of free range birds including chickens, turkeys, ducks and guinea fowl.  Our free range poultry are our best protection against insect and arachnid problems.  Our free range birds eat almost all the ticks, grass hoppers, maggots and a wide variety of other pests that venture to enter the short cut or grazed grass around our facilities.  Last year we found only 2 ticks on our dogs over the entire Spring through Fall season.  We had purchased Frontline for them and due to the fantastic job our birds have done of controlling the ticks naturally we did not even have to use it.  The number of flies on our farm has been reduced about 75% or greater since we have been running the free range birds.  Now if we could just train the birds to stay out of the dogs pens. We do have friends in various poultry production business and are willing to forward you to them.
